Manrique "Rique" Cabaya

     RIQUE CABAYA is the Artistic Director and Choreographer of Sining Kumintang ng Batangas, one of the principal Philippine folk dance companies of the Philippines. Currently, he is a faculty member and MAPEH Chairman of Bauan High School in Bauan, Batangas.

     Formerly, Rique was a performing artist and Assistant Dance Director of the Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company. He was also a faculty member and Dance Supervisor at St. Scholastica’s College in Manila, a P.E. instructor at Philppine Women’s Unviersity and a Dance Specialist at Batangas High School for the Arts and Sports Complex in Batangas City.

     He served as the resource person for Philippine Folk Dances of Region 4 under the Philippine Department of Education, a dancer/performer/model for SAYAW: Encyclopedia of Dance under Ramon Obusan and the writer of Bayanihan Dance Company’s 5 volumes of instructional to Philippine dance videos.

     He continues to serve as the President of the Association of Batangas Core of Dancers; the Festival Coordinator of the Sublian Festival in Bauan and the Pastulan Festival in San Pascual, Batangas; and Artistic Director/Choreographer of Special Events at Malacañang Palace and the Cultural Center of the Philippines. During his visits to the United States, Rique has conducted lectures at City College of San Francisco and folk dance workshops with Barangay Dance Company and Kababayan Dance Troupe of Skyline College.
